History of the Bauer Hockey brand
Bauer Hockey traces its roots to Kitchener, Ontario, where the company was founded in 1927. The brand made its breakthrough in 1933 with the introduction of the first skate with a blade permanently attached to the boot, known as the Bauer Supreme. This innovative approach revolutionised the market and changed the way hockey players moved on the ice.
In the 1970s, Bauer introduced the TUUK skate, which became the industry standard. It was lighter, more durable and improved player manoeuvrability. In the 1990s, the brand expanded to include helmets, pads, sticks and sportswear. After being acquired by Nike in 1994, Bauer became even more recognisable on the world stage, and in 2008 it returned to independence as Bauer Performance Sports.
