Sharpening ice skates - Z channel Prosharp

The Z Channel is a new method of sharpening ice skates patented by Prosharp in Sweden. The width and depth of this channel are adjustable to give different levels of grip.

The use of the Z Channel results in two skids in one. This sharpening is designed to increase traction, control and speed.
The Z channel is a special sharpening service consisting in giving our blade an unusual shape with an additional channel passing through the center of the blade. The idea behind the Z Channel is to create duplicate edges, it's like having two speed skates side by side. A conventional groove is a compromise between good edge grip and good glide. Z-channel sharpening avoids this compromise.

The Z channel can be made by a Pro Sharp sharpener that allows wheel sharpening. The blade wheel sharpens the shallower outside of the skate but sharpens deeper in the center. The skate then essentially has four edges. A deeper center cut allows for more control and adhesion to the ice. This sharpening will help you get more speed
Channel Z

Additional inner edges ensure better control and grip and allow for quick changes of direction. The skater will be more agile and more confident when changing direction quickly. This will allow you to perform complex maneuvers with complete confidence that the edges of the skid will be well recessed in the ice. Falling is out of the question, the skates have a better grip.

The main advantages of the Z-channel:

• Reduces friction resulting in better glide.

• Additional inside edges give more support and grip in the shifter and in high-speed turns.

• Reduce the cutter radius by 20%, resulting in a longer blade life.

• Perfect for both hockey players and figure skaters.
- When selecting sharpening for the Z channel, please enter the groove depth 1 .
  
  The values “1/2” or “3/8” inch are the so-called deep groove, while “1”, “3/4” standard, or “7/8” inch are the insert groove.
  
  Recreational, amateur riders most often use the so-called neutral groove - “5/8” inch sharpening.
